I first picked up a camera when I was 14 years old and I knew I found my calling. I first fell in love with cinematography and the process of filmmaking, then I eventually got into photography. During my high school years, I started to film and capture different moments in my life. I went through different stages of scenery, color, and editing which allowed me to expand my understanding and tell a story through my photos.
As a hispanic kid growing up, my parents always enforced me to go to college and if I didn’t “my life will go down hill”. My parents wanted me to accomplish something that they never had the opportunity to do because they emigrated to the U.S. as teenagers struggling to make something of themselves. As a senior in High School I always knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life but I was afraid that my decision would disappoint my parents. So I put down my camera for a while and tried to do college and that’s when my world turned upside down.
As I put down my camera and put my focus into college, I began to notice how I wasn’t myself especially working late nights to pay for my classes. It got to the point where I was exhausted and that something inside of me was missing. So I began to rethink my life over and made a decision that I will never regret. As I picked up my camera for the first time in a while, I felt like I went back in time when I was 14 and I never felt happier.
I am currently working a full-time job to get all the equipment that I need to have, but I am working part-time as videographer and photographer. I eventually want to switch to full-time because I enjoy it and want to make a living of what I love doing most. Every photo and video I have taken has been an honor for me to be part of someones life and I want to continue to tell stories through my work.
